No More Pimps, Players, or Plantation Slaves: Black Celebrities Reclaiming the Greatness of Blackness

BY: Dr. Ray

In my opinion, which is always a fact, we truly need Black celebrities to
provide financial and other resources, specifically, to Black organizations,Black institutions,
Black businesses, and any Black person that is providing services that is
helping to produce powerful Black leaders. According to an article in
the Celebrity Networth entitled, “The Richest Black People on the
Planet”, Brian Warner (September 26, 2014) states that out of the 1600
wealthiest billionaires, only 11 are Black – including two who are from
the United States: Oprah Winfrey ($2.9 Billion) and Michael Jordan ($1
Billion). However, according to a post by Ricky Riley in the
ATLANTABLACKSTAR entitled, “54 Richest Black Male Celebrities With A
Collective Net Worth Over $9B”, he notes that the net worth of some of
our male celebrities are over $100 million (Will Smith, Tyler Perry, Bill
Cosby, Samuel L. Jackson, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Dr. Dre).

Because I love our Black celebrities so much, I wonder what would life be
like if all Black celebrities invested 10% of their net worth in Black
communities that truly support Black people. I wonder what life would be
like if all Black celebrities created leadership programs for Black people.
I wonder what would life be like if all Black celebrities would join
together and create entertainment companies, education institutions,
hospitals, industries, military, farms, and political parties
for Black people. I wonder what would life be like if all Black
celebrities would teach business strategies to Black people. I wonder
what would life be like if all Black celebrities would challenge against
the mental, spiritual, and physical genocide that is inflicted upon Black
people. I wonder what would life be like if all Black celebrities would buy
land and create affordable homes for Black people. I wonder what would
life be like if all Black celebrities would become conscious and develop an
African Centered Paradigm so that they can truly help Black people. I
wonder what would life be like if all Black celebrities built a Black
nation for Black people. I wonder what would life be like if all Black
celebrities would……JUST BE BLACK AND DO BLACK FOR BLACK
PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
